The Exchequer has seen its first deficit in four years, according to figures released by the Department of Finance this evening.

The Exchequer has seen its first deficit in four years, according to figures released by the Department of Finance this evening.

Spending outweighed revenue by some €67m for the first two months of the year. It compares with a surplus of €1.2bn for the same period last year. Tax receipts are slightly down, while other exchequer returns are down by more than €300m.
