Britain's economy grows by 0.5%

Britain’s economy grew by 0.5% last quarte - less punchy than previously thought, after the manufacturing and service industries weakened, figures showed today.

The figures, from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), showed GDP in the third quarter of 2001 was revised down from the robust 0.6% estimated last month.
