British euro membership 'inevitable'

British Europe Minister Peter Hain has said the European single currency is ‘‘marching on’’ and suggests membership is inevitable, it was reported today.

In an interview with the left-wing weekly Tribune, the minister expanded on the official Government line that membership of the euro depends on Chancellor Gordon Brown’s five economic tests.
