US stocks have pulled back as investors, reacting to a murky earnings forecast from Cisco Systems, sold off technology and some blue chip shares.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed down 17.05 at 10,866.46, while the Nasdaq composite index dropped 42.51 to 2,156.26.
