The world's largest software company, Microsoft has beaten fiscal third quarter forecasts with earnings which were also ahead of the previous year's results.

The world's largest software company, Microsoft has beaten fiscal third quarter forecasts with earnings which were also ahead of the previous year's results.

The company reported earnings of $2.45bn, or 44 cents per share, in the quarter, two cents ahead of estimates and one cent up on the year earlier figure.
