Tokyo index overcomes Nasdaq weakness

The Nikkei 225 index has closed at 13,403.83, up 161.02 points, despite Nasdaq's overnight weakness.

The dollar was at 124.71 yen, down from 125.43 in late New York trading, and at 0.9065 against the euro, compared with 0.9023 in New York.
