Jurys Doyle Hotel Group has bought Birmingham-based Chamberlain Hotels for stg£41.9m.

Jurys Doyle Hotel Group has bought Birmingham-based Chamberlain Hotels for stg£41.9m.

The acquisition of Chamberlain's two city centre hotels increases Jurys Doyle's portfolio to 31 hotels in the UK, Ireland and the US.

The deal follows recent encouraging results for Irish-based Jurys Doyle's. The chain recorded strong trading in November and December last year and the company predicts an "excellent" performance in 2001.

Earlier this year the group said it planned to buy more city centre hotels, to appeal to business and leisure customers.

Work on the Jurys hotel in the centre of the Croydon is scheduled for completion in January, 2002.
