Tokyo share index falls after Greenspan's comments

The Nikkei 225 index has closed at 12,681.66, down 201.88 points.

Dealers say comments overnight by the US Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan more than offset the positive impact of yesterday's decision by the Bank of Japan to cut interest rates.
