New housing plan urged
The Nevin Economic Research Institute (NERI) yesterday unveiled its blueprint for what it called a âgame-changerâ to the âhousing emergencyâ in Ireland.
Calling housing the âsingle biggest social policy failureâ, NERI said the Governmentâs âŹ5bn plan to build 25,000 new homes per year and add 47,000 social housing units is âinsufficient to make a significant impactâ and wonât deliver enough output to meet rising population levels.
