The exclusive Dromquinna Manor wedding destination in Co Kerry had its “best year yet” last year, as revenues increased by 30%.

Brennan’s Dromquinna Manor hotel enjoys record year of sales

That is according to one half of the Brennan brothers double act, John Brennan who was commenting on new accounts showing the venue’s post-tax profits more than doubled to €171,022 in 2014, the most recent year for which detailed figures are available.

The former co-star of RTÉ’s At Your Service programme, Mr Brennan confirmed that in 2015, the venue staged 64 weddings, 10 more than in 2014.

He said the venue entertained 18,000 people last year.

“This translates into 36,000 bed nights for the town of Kenmare.

"That is a massive spin-off for the town,” he said.

“There are no losers at Dromquinna — only winners on every front.

"It is a beautiful business plan. It is a gorgeous property and it is three miles from Kenmare.

“If I opened up a hotel in a traditional sense we wouldn’t be doing the business we are doing,” Mr Brennan said.

Dromquinna was once on the market for €12m-€15m before its asking price slumped to around €2m in a lease option-to-buy deal and Mr Brennan snapped it up for an undisclosed sum in 2011.

He confirmed that he completed the purchase of the property in 2015.

Speaking yesterday, Mr Brennan said the trend in the business “is going upwards and is continuing to go upwards and we have no reason to believe that that will change; 2016 is going to be very similar in revenues to 2015.”

“We are very happy with the way the property has performed,” he added.
