AIB to repay overdue tax relief to customers

Thousands of customers are set to receive overdue relief payments in the coming weeks following a €160,000 banking blunder at AIB which left many out of pocket.

Some 1,600 borrowers found themselves in a sticky situation through no fault of their own after the bank failed to make tax relief at source payments at the end of February.

The system sees Revenue transferring funds to banks which are then passed on to eligible homeowners to reduce the monthly repayments burden.
