Revenue nets €19.64m from 107 tax defaulters
The biggest settlement was with Groundview Ltd, an amusement arcade business with an address at Mount Street, Dublin 2, for €2,389,228.
The second highest settlement was with Joseph P Clarke, who is a farmer based in Beltra, Co Sligo, who settled for €1,378,969.
The highest settlement in the Cork region was with William Martin Hayes, a bread delivery agent from Dublin Hill who received a total fine of €362,513.
Of the 107 published cases, 33 were for amounts exceeding €100,000; of which 10 exceeded €500,000; 5 of which exceeded €1m.
Nine of the 107 settlements published, yielding €3.89m, relate to Revenue’s investigation into Offshore Assets/Funds. The published settlements reflect a portion only of all Revenue audits and investigations concluded in the 3-month period to September 30, 2014.
Settlements are only published when the extensive voluntary disclosure options are not availed of and the default is as a result of careless or deliberate behaviour.A total of 1,871Revenue audit and investigations together with 24,387 Risk Management Interventions were settled between July 1 to September 30, 2014, resulting in a yield of €121.8 million.
