Pre-tax profits at Gate Gourmet fall 26% to €760,000

Pre-tax profits at the Irish arm of Gate Gourmet, which provides meals to airline passengers, last year fell 26% to €760,418.

The decline in pre-tax profits at the Swiss-owned firm came in spite of the company increasing revenues by 11% from €10.93m to €12.16m in the 12 months to the end of December 31, 2013.

Numbers employed by the firm last year declined from 137 to 133, with staff costs going up from €4.36m to €4.4m.

The firm is engaged principally in food manufacture and in-flight catering facilities at Dublin Airport and according to the directors’ report “the company performed strongly in 2013”.

Operating profits rose 33.5% from €511,872 to €682,856. Accumulated profits rose from €8.51m to €9.12m. Shareholder funds increased to €13.69m.

The firm last year paid corporation tax of €150,662.
