Income tax cut suggested by Goodbody

The Government needs to use the budget as an opportunity to stimulate the medium-term potential of the economy by restructuring taxation and spending.

Among the measures required to achieve such a result are a widening of income tax bands and a renewed focus on capital expenditure, which remains at its lowest level in about 25 years in relative terms.

The call was made by Goodbody Stockbrokers as part of its quarterly economic health check.
