Time for closer look at health executives’ pay

With the decision of Angela Kerins, ex-CEO of Rehab, to take the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) to court because of her alleged mistreatment at the hands of the PAC, it’s about time we had some clarity on what organisations in receipt of extensive public funds can do by way of payments to their senior executives.

Time for closer look at health executives’ pay

According to the Department of Health website, “the HSE funds a range of service providers under either section 38 or 39 of the Health Act 2004. Section 38 arrangements involve organisations being funded to provide services on behalf of the HSE, while under Section 39 the HSE grant aids a wide range of organisations, to a greater or lesser extent.

“Some of the Section 39 providers receive very substantial amounts from public funds.”
