The IMF has struck a cautiously optimistic tone in its most recent World Economic Outlook report.

Reasons to be cheerful about global growth

It notes that global activity has ‘broadly strengthened’ and is expected to register further improvement in 2014-15, with much of the growth dynamic coming from advanced economies.

The IMF is forecasting that the global economy will grow by 3.6% this year and 3.9% in 2015, following growth of 3% in 2013.
