Industrial production sector thriving

Irish industrial production is continuing its rollercoaster ride with the CSO recording a 13% month on month jump as the output from the pharmaceutical sector recovered from recent lows.

The recovery in the pharmaceutical sector, saw production figures spike above the peak levels that existed before the arrival of the so-called patent cliff, in November last year.

The patent cliff relates to the expiration of a number of key patents that have expired allowing cheaper copycat drugs to be produced by rivals.
