Sea salt company wins French contract

The company which produces organic sea salt flakes, using century-old salt-making techniques on the Beara Peninsula won the contract after taking part in Food Export Programme run by South and West Cork Enterprise Boards.

Managing director of Irish Atlantic Sea Salt, Aileen O’Neill, said that they were delighted their first major export deal and to enter the continental European market.

“France is a huge and highly developed market with very discerning consumers who really appreciate high quality ingredients,” she said.

They secured the deal as a result of the Food Export Programme.

Ms O’Neill said that the advice they received had helped them up their game and make and push into the new markets.

“Having had great feedback from our customers in Ireland, we decided to take part in the Food Export Programme run by the South Cork Enterprise Board and Cork County Council. The training and access to expertise provided on the programme was absolutely invaluable and we received great support to bring our product to trade shows,” she said.
