Ireland sees biggest services growth in EU but the largest drop in industry and construction

Ireland experienced the biggest growth in the services industry in the last decade in the EU, balanced by the biggest decrease in industry, construction and agriculture as a share of GDP.

At the bottom of the scale was Germany with a small growth in industry but also suffering a loss in services and construction but the effect was not as large as there was not the big drop in its GDP as a result of the economic crisis.

While manufacturing continues to decrease in Ireland, the percentage was by much less than the EU average. Only six sectors showed growth in the EU generally, the biggest being pharmaceuticals, metal ores, mining support services and transport equipment.
