Business group aims to promote city
The Waterford City Centre Business Group will unveil a new development briefing document between 6pm-7pm in the Granville Hotel and have extended an open invitation to all city centre businesses to attend.
The organisation’s working group will give a briefing on their thoughts on how to revitalise the centre of Waterford’s retail and entertainment quarters.
The meeting will also hear the results of a recent city centre business survey which highlights business concerns and issues as well as suggesting positive and creative ideas on promoting Waterford for business.
Spokesperson for the business group Eddie Mulligan said the group made “huge strides” in the last few weeks. “In fact, the dynamics of the group have driven some incredible Facebook referrals on the positive promotion of Waterford city — even reaching as far afield as the UK.
“Only last week, we again saw the Facebook referrals top 31,000,” he said.
“The development briefing document we will be presenting has some very innovative and exciting suggestions. In addition we will share all the responses from the recent survey carried out a couple of weeks ago. Again we would ask that all businesses and stakeholders interested in the future development of the city centre come along and attend.”
Another member of the working group, Jim Gordon said it was a unique opportunity for all local businesses to help drive the revitalisation of the city centre.
“We hope that any business concerned with the city centre will attend and contribute to what we believe will become a new fresh voice in the city; bringing creative ideas to the table and engaging with all the city’s stakeholders for the betterment of the centre.”
According to Mr Gordon, the group have started a journey “that will hopefully bring new voices to the table, with a drive and determination to put Waterford city back on the retail and entertainment map”.
