AIB bond issued as arrears stabilise

AIB has mandated four investment banks to oversee the issuance of a three-year covered bond, although it declined to provide any further details.

The move had been well signalled. Last week Bank of Ireland raised €1bn through an unguaranteed three-year covered bond.

Yesterday, AIB issued an interim management update which shows that the pace of mortgage and loan arrears is stabilising.
