Reports that the European Commission has rejected Ryanair’s concessions in its bid to take over Aer Lingus are being disputed by EU sources.

The reports suggested that because the Commission has not yet market tested Ryanair’s proposals, people in the industry were assuming that the bid was about to be rejected.

However, other sources suggested that the competition section of the commission is preparing to send formal objections to the takeover bid, finding Ryanair’s remedies insufficient to deal with monopoly fears.
