The planned sale of the licence to operate the National Lottery is getting under way with the appointment of Davy Stockbrokers for eight months as advisers.

The Government hopes to net between €400m and €600m from the sale of the licence to operate the Lotto.

Brendan Howlin, the public expenditure and reform minister, said yesterday that there was a high level of interest from both at home and abroad in operating the licence.
