Rise in levels of household lending

Household lending levels improved marginally in June with the annualised rate of decline falling from 3.9% to 3.7%, according to new figures from the Central Bank.

The banks lent €55m more to consumers in June, than in May, the increase being attributed to rising demand for home loans.

Annualised mortgage lending levels were down by 2.2% in June, following a 2.5% year-on-year drop recorded in May.
