In an effort to counter accusations that it lacks transparency, Nama yesterday released a comprehensive 2011 annual report providing details of most of its business activities.

It even included a section called“debunking the Nama myths” aimed at challenging some of the negative press the agency has got since its inception. Nama controls 121 of the 900 hotels in the country. Chief executive Brendan McDonagh claimed all the hotels operating under the aegis of Nama do so in as competitive a manner as possible.

Even though the Competition Authority had looked into a few cases, it had decided not to proceed.
