Horse racing hit by bad weather

Lashing rain throughout the year has hit revenues at racetracks as figures show the breeding industry continues to contact.

There are now 21% fewer horses in training compared with four years ago.

And the modest recovery in track attendances in the last two years has been halted by the wash-outs at recent festivals such as Punchestown.
