Union demands ‘clear vision’ on banking future

The bank workers’ union IBOA has thrown down a gauntlet to the Government demanding that they outline a strategic vision for the future of banking in Ireland.

Larry Broderick, general secretary of the union, said despite the Government’s in-depth involvement in the banking sector, there is still no vision for Irish banking.

“For all of the Government’s interventions in Irish banking in recent years — we have yet to hear a clear vision enunciated about the future of the sector.
