Markets still volatile after bailout

Shares across Europe were broadly down yesterday although the FTSE 100 did make a slight gain.

US markets were also slightly off as May retail sales figures were down 0.2% month on month. The ISEQ index ended the day down 6.18 points at 3,023.18.

Financials continued to be mixed as recent macro-economic data and newsflow continues to fail to provide any impetus for bank shares. AIB did manage a small gain of 0.2c or 3.8% to 6.7c. Bank of Ireland and Permanent TSB Group were both laggards, shipping 0.2c and 0.6c to close at 9.1c and 2.4c.
