US markets were also slightly off as May retail sales figures were down 0.2% month on month. The ISEQ index ended the day down 6.18 points at 3,023.18.

Bank of Ireland and Permanent TSB Group were both laggards, shipping 0.2c and 0.6c to close at 9.1c and 2.4c.
