Domestic and other European pressures on fuel prices are placing undue pressures on struggling businesses, angering farmers and transport workers.

MEPs vote against    emissions     tax plan which would hike diesel by 9%

MEPs meeting in Strasbourg have voted against a European Commission proposal for a CO2 emissions tax that could increase diesel prices by up to 9%. The proposal would apply across all EU member states, at a minimum of €20 per tonne of carbon dioxide.

However, it remains to be seen if the Taxation of energy products and electricity paper proceeds despite opposition.
