BoI pulls bill pay facility

Bank of Ireland has withdrawn the facility to pay for bills at the counter with cash at branches around the country, forcing people to move to online payments.

Age Action Ireland has criticised the move by the bank, which they said will hit elderly customers harder than others.

“Age Action would regret this move, which will cause problems for elderly people who rely on the banks to pay their utility bills,” a spokesperson for Age Action Ireland said.
