IBOA to meet AIB management shortly

Bank workers’ union the IBOA is set to meet AIB’s new management within the next fortnight in a bid to gain clarity on the nationalised bank’s restructuring plans and more detail on its intention to cut at least 2,000 jobs.

AIB announced, last year, its plan to downsize its workforce by cutting about 2,000 positions, but movement on the issue has been slow and detail thin on the ground, on the back of the State becoming its majority shareholder.

Earlier this month, IBOA general secretary Larry Broderick accused the Department of Finance of effectively stalling the process.
