UNFORTUNATELY as we approach the end of 2011 it is not possible to claim that the year was a good one for the economy. However, it was an incredibly eventful one.

We were treated to two very interesting and often very nasty election campaigns.

The general election delivered one of the most dramatic shifts in the Irish political landscape since Independence and Fianna Fáil and the Greens were heavily punished for the dysfunctional nature of the government they presided over.
