SMEs ‘losing millions’ over red tape

THE Small Firms Association (SFA) has reiterated its call on the Government to overhaul its public procurement policy, saying that SMEs are losing millions of euro due to bureaucratic procedures.

The SFA touched on this subject back in September at its annual conference.

However, yesterday the organisation’s director, Patricia Callan, said immediate action is needed as a recent survey of SFA member companies showed that nearly two-thirds haven’t tendered to provide goods or services to the public sector, local government or state agencies any time during the last three years.
