THE ISEQ index slipped 36.52 points to 2,654.78 in line with other European and world bourses yesterday.

European shares fell after German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the country was opposed to a phrase in the draft EU summit that calls for support for the continued use of non-standard measures by the European Central Bank.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland was unchanged at 10.1c. AIB advanced 0.3c to 6.6c. Irish Life & Permanent added 0.2c to 3.2c. Shares in general insurance group, FBD, fell 10c to €6.25 after a month’s rain fell in 24 hours on the east coast, leading to extensive flood damage and road closures.
