EUROPEAN Central Bank (ECB) president Jean-Claude Trichet has said the EU’s treaty should be changed to prevent one member state from destabilising the rest of the bloc.

He has also urged stronger governance of the eurozone.

“In my view it is necessary to change the treaty to prevent one member state from straying and creating problems for all the others,” Mr Trichet said in an interview broadcast on French radio and television yesterday.
