THE Central Bank now has powers to veto the appointment of a chief executive to the country’s banks or major insurance company.

New rules mean the Central Bank will have to approve 42 senior positions at financial services firms before the potential employee can take the job.

The Central Bank said new employees must be competent, capable, honest and act with integrity.
