Dublin: As many as 150 workers at United Drug’s Irish healthcare section face losing their job or being re-deployed, it emerged yesterday.

A spokeswoman said the healthcare industry and the marketplace has come under significant pressure from the impact of government-led regulatory changes. Close to 650 are employed in the Irish section.

“These changes have resulted in falling revenues and margins, and our profitability over the last few years has been eroded,” the spokesperson said, adding that United Drug is embarking on a business transformation programme to remain competitive.
