THE ISEQ index advanced 8.38 points to 2,968.17yesterday in line with the main European and world bourses.

Market gains in line with peers

The European Central Bank raised its key interest rate a quarter of a percent to 1.5%, in an effort to curb inflationary pressures. Eurozone inflation remained at 2.7% in June, still well above the ECB’s target of just under 2%.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland added 0.6c to 11.5c. AIB dropped 0.8c to 13c, while Irish Life & Permanent increased 0.5c to 4.5c.
