Central Bank profit falls nearly €100m

THE Central Bank’s profit fell from €933.8 million in 2009 to €840.9m in 2010, according to its annual report published yesterday.

From that, €671m will be transferred to the state’s coffers against a figure of well over €700m the previous year.

Central Bank governor Patrick Honohan stressed the importance of the EU/IMF bailout terms, saying they have bought time for the economy.
