France urged to reform tax system

Paris: France must overhaul its tax system “quickly,” especially labour, production and value-added taxes that weigh on its competitiveness as it seeks to catch up with Germany, the state auditor said.

Aligning the French system to Germany’s would add €15 billion to budget receipts, it said.

A copy of the report was given to President Nicolas Sarkozy by Cour des Comptes President Didier Migaud.
