Factory gate prices rise 1.3% in January

FACTORY gate prices rose by 1.3%, on a year-on-year basis, in January, according to latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

When measured on a month-by- month basis, the price of goods charged for by manufacturers when transport costs are excluded, increased by 1% in January.

The price of meat and related products showed the most significant increase between December and January — rising by 1.8% — but other food products (including bread and confectionery) and pharmaceutical items also showed strong monthly price increases; up by 1.6% and 1.3% respectively.
