A STRONG export performance in the fourth quarter pushed total exports for last year to a new record of €161 billion.

The figure represents a 6.7% increase in 2009.

In its review of 2010 the Irish Exporters Association (IEA) said strong merchandising sales and a good performance from the Irish food sector were mainly responsible for the new export record.
