Manufacturing output surges for fifth month

PRODUCTION levels amongst Ireland’s manufacturing industries grew by 8.3% in October — on a year-on-year basis — according to latest figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

The October figures — driven, in the main, by strong gains in pharmaceutical product output — marked the sixth straight month of production growth, although September’s annualised rate of growth was considerably higher at 12.3%.

Nevertheless, the latest figures have led commentators to suggest that Irish manufacturing output should be in a good place for the next 12 months.
