€8.4m cost of replying to CSO surveys

IT cost Irish businesses almost €14 million to complete surveys for the Central Statistics Office last year — an average of €37.65 per firm.

It is also estimated that Irish companies spent 311,300 hours — or an average of 50.4 minutes per firm — in filling out CSO forms during 2009.

The results are published in the first-ever Response Burden Barometer issued by the CSO yesterday, which measured the administrative burden on Irish companies of filling out CSO surveys.
