Irish spend €193m each year on fish

Dublin: Some 96% of Irish households purchase fish and together they spend €193 million on it annually, according to research by Kantar WorldPanel.

This is equivalent to 18,000 tonnes in volume terms. Some 60% of fish purchased is fresh and of this, 69% is pre-packed.

Just over 47% of Irish households are buying haddock annually and spending €14m in total. This is equivalent to 1,500 tonnes.
