THE chief executive of the Irish Management Institute Dr Tom McCarthy said yesterday that Ireland should resist a bailout by Europe at all costs.

Speaking after the launch of a survey of multinational companies based in Ireland, Dr McCarthy said in relation to the Irish crisis the ECB should act like a “proper central bank” and take on the full risk of the Irish banking sector.

“It is high time they copped themselves on,” he said, when asked to comment on the threatened bailout and the pressure being placed by the EU.
