Market down on low volumes

THE Irish market started the week with a modest loss of 6.65 points yesterday to finish at 2,677.60.

Trading was subdued as investors looked to the US for direction. The US markets opened strongly after data showed strength in industrial activity in the US and China.

In the financial sector, AIB added 0.3c to 34c. Bank of Ireland dipped 1.3c to 52c, while Irish Life & Permanent dropped 2c to €1.50.
