Weak euro sees manufactured goods exports to US up 32%

A WEAK euro powered Irish exports to the US in the third quarter — manufactured goods exports to the US rose by 32% in cash terms in the three months to the end of September.

The Irish Exporters Association (IEA) third quarter 2010 Review shows an impressive 12.8% growth in merchandise exports, and good growth in services exports, bringing total exports for the quarter to €40.4 billion — up 9.3% on the same period last year.

And the IEA has revised upwards its forecast for the year to €158.9bn in total exports, up 5.8% over 2009.
