THE maximum milk quota price for the priority pool in the next national trading scheme falls from six cent to five cent per litre.

The closing date for receipt of trading applications is November 5. Application forms are available from co-ops this week.

A new national component will allow sellers successful in selling some but not all of their quota to dispose of their remaining quota through a national pool. Where necessary, this redistribution will be carried out by the Department of Agriculture immediately after the trading scheme, to ensure that sellers are not forced to retain some of the quota offered for sale because of insufficient demand.
