HEAD of the Irish Technology Leadership Group John Hartnett has said high US investment activity levels and a skilled workforce can enable Ireland to have its own world-leading technology industry and allow the country to emulate Silicon Valley in California.

Speaking at Dublin Chamber of Commerce’s SMART Series, he called for a push for Ireland to become a top five European country in terms of high-speed broadband, an acceleration to 2015 in the target of 3% of GDP for R&D investment, more Irish firms on Nasdaq and the creation of 20,000 technology jobs by 2015.
